Sleipnir Web Browser 2012

Introducing Sleipnir 3 – The intuitive web browser
Are you bored with the feel and look of Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome? Are you on the search for a web browser which can be customized to suit your choices? Do you want your browser to give you the smart phone feel even while you are on your PC? Then Sleipnir 3 is the web browser to download!
Sleipnir is a relatively new web browser on the block and has been developed by Fenrir Inc. Sleipnir’s name has been taken from Norse mythology and refers to an eight-legged horse. Sleipnir is an intuitive, stylish and extremely customizable web browser.

The best thing about Sleipnir 3 is that it is a breath of fresh air for the users who are bored with the monotonic themes and customization options of the leading browsers in the current crop of internet browsers. Sleipnir is fully customizable and can be set to fit one’s individual needs and requirements. Moreover, you can download a theme of your liking from a sea of themes available for the browser from Fenrir’s home website.
Probably, the greatest feature of Sleipnir 3 is its full-screen mode which is simply astounding. It gives you the enjoyable feeling of browsing the web through your iOS or android device! Sleipnir utilizes the mouse to simulate finger flicks and movements with consummate ease. You can get hold of a link and get it to open in a new tab and move the web pages left or right with a simple drag and drop feature. You can even divide your opened websites into different groups so as to make your browsing experience a lot simpler. This feature is very useful for people who like to open a lot of tabs at once while browsing. With the option of dividing tabs into various groups and assigning each group a specific name, you would always have an easier tab bar to access and use!
However, it has to be accepted that Sleipnir’s speed is a touch slower than Firefox and Chrome. Still, it must be asserted that the difference is pretty minor and the browser compensates its slow speed with the touch-screen like feel and impressive customization options.
The biggest down-side of Sleipnir 3 is the lack of plug-ins available for the web browser. As compared to the sea of plug-ins and extensions for Chrome, Safari and Firefox, Sleipnir has a limited 10-12 plug-ins developed for it. Even though the plug-ins present are unique and impressive but some simple and popular plug-ins like a YouTube downloader, a download accelerator etc are all missing and thus, people accustomed to using a lot of plug-ins and extensions on their current browsers would find themselves extremely handicapped when using Sleipnir.
Moreover, even though Sleipnir tries to distinguish itself from other browsers, there are still some features which make it seem like a mixture of Chrome, Firefox and IE. It uses a toolkit similar to Mozilla Firefox and gives the Internet Explorer feel when it starts warning about anything and everything when opening a new website.
Sleipnir is currently available in just English and Japanese. The web browser is available for Windows, Mac, Windows Mobile, iOS and Android smart phones and tablets.
Final Say: Sleipnir 3 is worth a try at this stage but simply can’t be adapted as a full-time browser. However, early signs show that if Sleipnir can build on its 3rd release and show the browsing speed of an eight legged horse then it can surely give Firefox and Chrome a run for their money in the coming future.
