The company Secunia has released an updated version of its flagship product, Personal Software Inspector (PSI). This tool is designed to identify and eliminate vulnerabilities in the applications installed on the user's PC.
Secunia Personal Software Inspector ensures timely update to the fifty most popular applications deployed on the 2 million user computers. The list includes software products from Microsoft, Adobe Systems, Apple and other manufacturers that can make your computer vulnerable to hacker attacks. Many of these programs have their own means of automatic updates. However, due to the lack of a single mechanism, announcing the availability of new patches, client systems can not be reliably protected.
Personal Software Inspector (PSI) 3.0.0.2003
PSI performs accurate inventory of all installed applications, version numbers, and remembers watching the release of new patches. By default, the program goes to the Internet several times a day, but you can change the regularity of inspections taking into account personal preferences.
The developers of the Secunia PSI is recommended to leave the application running in the background. Utility uses minimal system resources and has no noticeable effect on performance.
What's new in version 3.0:
Updated user interface: The user interface has been carefully re-designed to serve and be useful to users at all levels
Automatic updates: Secunia PSI can automatically update software silently in the background without any interaction from the user, including programs where silent installation parameters are not made available by the vendors. The user can also choose to disable automatic updates to maintain full control over which updates are deployed on the PC.
Localisation: The application is now available in English, German, French, Spanish and Danish
Update history: The "History" (change log) shows which programs have been updated when and whether the update was successfully deployed or not.
Ignore rules: Right-click a program to ignore updates to this
Scan individual drives: Choose which drives to include in the scan
In-application help files: Click the "Need Help?" button from anywhere in the Secunia PSI to get instant access to the user guide
